Darren Briggs
Senior Vice President of Data & Product Strategy, Songspace

Darren Briggs is the Senior Vice President of Data & Product Strategy at Songspace, where he leads the company’s data architecture, integration, lifecycle, and standards strategy and teams. He is also instrumental in developing the company’s product and partnership strategy. Mr. Briggs has many years of experience in music business and technology leadership and is the inventor of several key social media and music technology patents. He has founded two successful technology startups (selling one of them), and in 2016 co-founded a whiskey distillery, Fugitives Spirits, in Nashville, specializing in locally sourced, handmade Tennessee Whiskey. He also currently advises select innovative music companies on their business and technology strategy and is a founding member of the Media, Entertainment & Technology Alliance PAC (META). Some of his previous roles include Vice President of Data & Technology Innovation at BMI, Vice President of Strategic Development at BMI, Vice President & CTO at Landmark Digital (owner of the Shazam Entertainment recognition technology), Senior Director of Global Business Technology at Sony/ATV London, and Creative Director at Sony/ATV Nashville. Darren was also a Board member of DDEX, a member of the IMJV publisher’s advisory board, and a member of the original CISAC CWR publisher’s advisory team. Darren’s patented inventions have been purchased, implemented or referenced by many technology giants including Shazam Entertainment, Griffin Technology, Google, Microsoft, facebook, Arbitron, Nielsen, Nokia, IBM, AT&T, and Yahoo!. The audio recognition company he established in 2005, Landmark Digital, was awarded Innovator of the Year at the 2009 Nashville Music Awards. Darren is a graduate of Vanderbilt University (Mathematics) and in 2013 was awarded the MIDEM Music Industry Scholarship to study at the Berlin School of Creative Leadership in Berlin, Germany
